The University of Turku
Aurum is a new building for Åbo Akademi University's faculty of science and technology and the University of Turku's department of chemistry. We delivered wall constructions for the entrances and atrium, a panel ceiling and wooden handrails for the atrium, auditorium and stairways.
AURUM
The main entrance is over 15 metres high with batten walls and a panelled roof with a double arch, so each batten is unique. All its parts are 3D modelled and manufactured on a CNC. The material of the batten and panel roof is Finnish heat-treated pine.
In the courtyard, the height of the atrium rises to over 26 metres and its walls are clad with heat-treated pine. The battens are attached to steel profiles and are made in a workshop. Thanks to the steel profile and the production of the elements, the height of the battens continues neatly over the entire width of the wall.
We also supplied banisters for atrium glass and concrete railings, auditorium acoustic walls, and steel railings for stairwells and connecting bridges. In the atrium, the banisters are solid birch stained in the shade of thermal wood and the banisters in the stairways are solid oak.
